Apartments.com: Rental Property Search Guide

Client: HR Onboarding Team (fictional scenario for academic/portfolio purposes)

Tools: Adobe Captivate

The HR onboarding team sought a streamlined training solution to help new hires relocating to Chicago quickly learn how to navigate Apartments.com and identify housing options that fit their needs. I designed an interactive Captivate module that introduced key housing concepts, demonstrated site functionality, and guided learners through applying filters such as price, bedrooms, and amenities.

The course included a click-and-reveal overview of the Chicago housing market, interactive tabs outlining relocation tools, a step-by-step video demonstration of the search process, a hands-on simulation that replicated real browsing tasks, and knowledge checks aligned to the learning objective. I led the full instructional design and development process—analysis, design document creation, storyboard development, Captivate build, and usability testing.

The evaluation confirmed strong clarity, ease of navigation, and relevance for new employees, validating the module as an effective microlearning resource for supporting relocation and onboarding.
